Handmade Siccamore Wood Urn with Blue Mineral Inlay on Cork stand

Making beautiful urns is my passion and I am always looking for truly remarkable wood. This piece is made of a Siccamore Burl. It has beautiful figuring all around and large voids and cracks which I inlayed with blue minerals.
All the inlayed voids in this urn are natural, I never add voids to the wood. If you look closely at the lines in the wood you can see this.

I created a sphere of this piece and put it on a piece of Cork. I see so much beauty in contrasts. If you overview my work you will notice that this is the fingerprint of my work: rough edges versus smooth surfaces. So many contrasts in life are exciting and give me food for thought. Once I heard someone say ‘there is so much life close to death’. It sounds confusing but I have experienced the truth of this. You can feel the beauty of life so intensely when you face death. Experiencing the beauty of nature can be comforting and inspiring for creating more beauty. Every day I feel motivated to contribute to making this beauty of nature more visible.

The urn is finished with high loss lacquer. Please keep it out of direct sunlight, don’t place it near a heating source. The urn is not fixed on the root so you turn it in any position you prefer.
